muskoka’s floating nordic spa

We’re in our soft

launch era.

Floathaus is a few months away from radiant self-actualization, but you can still visit. In fact, we’d love it if you did!

Book a sauna during our soft launch, and receive a code to use for a future visit when we’re fully renovated.

Glow, Rinse, Rest, Repeat.

Nothing ignites your inner glow like getting hot, cold, then hot again.

(Based on our extensive anecdotal research).

Community Sauna Session

70 Minutes - $67 (+tax)

Communities that glow together, grow together. Come hang out with other amazing sauna-lovers like yourself. Make a new friend. Sit by the fire. Be the person who asks everyone’s favorite question. “Do we want more water on the rocks?”

(Or don’t. We have a deep respect for introverts around here).

Price is individual. You’ll have shared access to the changerooms, sauna, dock lounge, and lakeview relaxation room at Muskoka Mind + Body.

Private Sauna Session

70 Minutes - $270 (+tax)

Ever wished for a floating sauna all to yourself? (We know it’s a bit niche, but trust us, it’ll knock your banya right off).

Soak up the peaceful solitude of a solo sauna sesh. Belly laugh with your best friends. Go on a double date. Hold hands with your true love to the soundtrack of a crackling fire.

Price is for up to 8 guests. You’ll have private access to the changerooms, sauna, dock lounge, and lakeview relaxation room at Muskoka Mind + Body.

Half-Day Sauna Session

3 Hours - $169 (+tax) per person

A three hour cruise! Well, more of a float than a cruise. You’d have to check with our neighbor, the RMS Segwun for that. BUT you will have a glorious, floating isle of sauna all to yourself.

Best for events, birthday and wedding parties, and cozy celebrations. Includes robe rental.

Please note, a minimum of 4 people are required for this booking (but you’re welcome to bring up to 8). You and your group will enjoy private access to the changerooms, sauna, dock lounge, and lakeview relaxation room at Muskoka Mind + Body.

Glow.

Glow: 5-15 Minutes

We follow a Nordic spa cycle (thermal cycle) of hot, cold, rest, repeat. Soak in the radiant warmth of our wood-fired sauna. Steam (löyly) it up and sweat it out with a stunning view of the lake.

Rinse.

Rinse: 10 Seconds - 2 Minutes

Ten seconds might sound like nothing, but if you’ve ever tried the Floathaus polar plunge, you’d be amazed how fast you can count! It goes right through the ice into Lake Muskoka. If polar plunging isn’t your style, you can give yourself an invigorating cold-bucket shower, enjoy a burst of fresh air, or a sprinkle of fresh snow.

Rest. (Repeat).

Rest: 5-10 Minutes

Don your robe and drop into a lounge chair on the dock or onto a beanbag in the lakeview relaxation room. Breathe deep and allow your body time to reset.

Repeat: 2-3 Cycles

Have you ever been told you have really good ideas? We’re offering $10 off to folks who join us during our soft launch in exchange for feedback on their sauna experience.

Interested? Use code: SOFTLAUNCH when you book.

(You’ll be asked to fill out a short feedback form after your visit. 10 minutes or less, we promise! Can’t be combined with other offers.)

A floating sauna? I have questions. (FAQ’s)

    • Your comfiest bathing suit (bathing suits are required).

    • Sandals, slides or flip flops for getting around.

    • A reusable water bottle (anything but glass).

    • Government issued ID

    • Two nice, cozy towels. (If you prefer to rent our towels, please indicate this when you book).

  • These ain’t your grandma’s bathrobes. Our gorgeous sherpa-lined dry robes from Dry Peaks come all the way from the west coast where surfers use them to change out of their wetsuits. They fit Small-2XL and might even be warmer than your winter coat. Robe rental is included with your booking.

  • Floathaus lives at the beautiful Muskoka Wharf. Technically our address is “D Dock.” We ask guests to check in at Muskoka Mind + Body to get changed and orientated. The address is 125 Steamship Bay Road, Gravenhurst, ON P1P 1Z9.

Our entrance is on the side of the building that faces the water.

  • There is free public parking in the lot beside Muskoka Mind + Body

  • Reservations are highly recommended. We cannot guarantee walk-in bookings. (Though, if you’re in town, you’re welcome to send us a message, we will always try to see what’s possible!)

  • Floathaus is completely off-grid, so our cold experience flows with the seasons. Here are some examples of what to expect:

Spring: A swim ladder down the center of the dock for cold dipping and cold plunging.

Summer: A cold splash bucket-shower on the dock.

Autumn: A swim ladder down the center of the dock for cold dipping and cold plunging.

Winter: A swim ladder through a hole in the ice, you brave soul. Note: During some parts of winter, the weather will be too cold for the plunge. Enjoy the burst of cold outdoor air, give yourself a snow shower, or, if you really gotta have that cold water, you’re welcome to bring a bucket of cold water out from the studio.

If you have questions about what to expect each season, feel free to send us a message! We can’t perfectly predict mother nature, but we will give you all the info we know. Also, please note: there is NO swimming at the Muskoka Wharf. We have to keep all “dips” and cold plunges internal to our dock structure.

  • The Floathaus sauna lives on a specialized dock that was custom built to freeze into the ice, so we can stay in the water all year round. (Shoutout to our friends at Nydock for building us such a dope foundation!)

  • There is a bathroom available at Muskoka Mind + Body for Floathaus guests. Please note we do not have showers. Floathaus is completely off-grid, so the running water is a DIY situation.

We do have buckets and ladles for you to give yourself a rinse if you like.

  • We advise anyone who is pregnant or has an existing medical condition to seek advice from their medical practitioner about the safety of sauna and cold before booking.

  • Floathaus is a fixed structure that permanently lives at the Muskoka Wharf. “D Dock” is our home.

  • Outside food and drinks (other than non-glass water bottles) are not permitted. Tea, water and light snacks are available for purchase at the Muskoka Mind + Body studio store.

  • We understand that plans change. Our updated policy ensures flexibility while maintaining fairness:

    • 48+ Hours Before Session: Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance will receive a full refund to the original payment method.

    • Unfortunately, no refunds or reschedules will be possible for cancellations made within 48 hours of a session.

  • The heat from the sauna may damage cell phone components. Please don’t bring your phone into the sauna. If you’ve booked a private Floathaus experience, feel free to use your phone as much (or little) as you like on the dock. (We couldn’t resist the urge to snap a pic for the ‘gram either).

If you’ve booked a shared community experience and you’d like to use your phone, please be respectful, and do not photograph or video other guests.

  • The studio is equipped with two open changerooms and a private bathroom (no lockers). Please do not leave any valuables in the changerooms. These rooms are supervised, but we cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.

  • There are inherent risks with use of saunas, floating docks and cold plunging. We recommend that you do your own research to understand the risks and assess your comfort level with each of these activities. If you have questions about what to expect, feel free to send us a message! All guests are required to sign a waiver prior to participating in the Floathaus experience.

  • Give the gift of glow. Send us a message with the amount and we will get you set up with a gift code.
